Scream Queer — Eros and Thanatos is an independent, underground queer horror film festival devoted to cinema without limits. Now in its seventh year, it screens extreme horror, erotic comedies, arthouse experiments and exploitation films from around the world, celebrating a transgressive space where avant-garde, sensuality, sexuality and pornography sit side by side in experimental filmmaking — free from moralism, bigotry and conformity of gender identity.
This website is the festival's digital sanctuary. Here you can meet the jury, browse the winners archive edition by edition, follow the live news feed, and explore press coverage from around the world. It exists for filmmakers, artists and audiences who love fearless queer genre cinema — and for anyone curious about the most mistreated side of underground film.
The festival is founded and curated by filmmaker Domiziano Cristopharo — considered the heir of Joe d'Amato on the underground extreme circuit — together with his muse, actress and Italian cinema icon Chiara Pavoni. The site is built to be updated directly by the festival team, so the archive keeps growing year after year. Submissions run year-round through FilmFreeway, where Scream Queer holds Gold Festival status.
